Exibition 02Belgrade > Paris

The project "Applied Nostalgia" has been designed as a sequence of exhibitions of photographs taken by two eminent photographers - one from Serbia and one from the EU Presidency country. Since France was presiding over the EU from July thru December 2008, Paris was the second European capital, after Lisbon that the citizens of Belgrade could see in a special way, just as Belgrade was presented to citizens of France.

The Serbian author, Nebojša Babić, has spent a week in Paris to take photographs of the city, events, locale and people that reminded him of Belgrade. The French author, Vinciane Verguethen has paid a visit to Belgrade and recorded the Parisian atmosphere that she found in Belgrade. Each author has selected 20 from among his/her photos that have been prepared for the exhibition. The exhibition in Paris was opened in the Serbian Cultural Centre on 5th November 2008, whereas the one in Belgrade in the gallery of the French Cultural Centre on 16th December. Both exhibitions were opened by the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić.

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister is the sponsor of this project accomplished in cooperation with French Embassy in Serbia and European Movement in Serbia, French Cultural Centre in Belgrade and the Serbian Cultural Centre in Paris. The project is supported by Air France, La Farge, Renault, BS Procesor, Epson and PwC Serbia.
